There is a shortage of simple, economical test equipment out there for 33 cm
right now, so if you are on the band, or thinking of getting on, you may find it
useful to have a portable signal source separate from your main radio to use for
various tasks, including:
- Testing newly constructed antennas for proper match
- Beacon transmitter service
- A portable signal source for antenna pattern testing
- Testing various UHF or microwave components (cables, relays, etc.)
The source described here is crystal-controlled, it's
output is clean (it uses the 33 cm filter described in the navigation bar on the
left) and the output can be varied from 20 mW to 3 Watts. It also has a 1 kHz pulse position for use with
other test equipment. It can be powered by any 12 Vdc power source, including a simple "wall wart".
